Singapore Airlines expects 30 per cent growth in passenger traffic from Punjab in 2006-07 and will focus on tourists and leisure travellers in the state. |
"We are expecting a 30 per cent growth in passenger traffic from Punjab during this fiscal while primarily targeting leisure and tourist traffic," Singapore Airlines Manager (Punjab) Vimal Rai said. |
To capitalise on the state's growing tourist traffic, Singapore Airlines has tied up with Singapore Tourism Board and Malaysia tourism board to offer special packages for passengers. |
The airlines will also target visiting friends and relatives passenger segment to countries such as the US, Canada and Manila. |
"The huge number of people from Punjab who visit other countries to meet friends and relatives also offers a huge potential for us," said Rai. |
Singapore Airlines operates 3 flights from Amritsar every week with a capacity of 323 seats per flight and maintains a load factor between 60 to 80 per cent. |
