The management of state-run Singareni Collieries Company (SCCL) has reiterated that there are no plans for privatisation of the company or mines.

Responding to the strike notice given by the employees unions, GSG Iyengar, the director (personnel), and Vasudeva Rao, the director (operations), said that the contract system was introduced in Koyyagudem open cast mine only in order to study the feasibility of surface miner technology in the company.

He said that the employees of SCCL were being trained in the operations of the surface miner equipment and the coal produced in the mine was being transported by the company with its own vehicles and way bills.
