The Excise Department inspected the Whitefield depot of the state-owned Karnataka State Beverages Corporation Ltd (KSBCL) and seized 40 cases of suspected non-paid duty liquor, a senior official said. |
Following complaints of irregularities at the depot, the officials inspected the stocks lying there last night, Joint Commissioner, Excise, Ramkrishna said. |
"On inspection, it was found there were 40 cases, which we suspect is non-paid duty liquor, that had made its way into the regular stocks", he said. |
Preliminary investigations indicate that these cases could have been stealthily mixed with the other regular stocks by the loaders when loading or unloading vehicles, he said. |
However, a final report on the matter, is still awaited, he said. KSBCL is a state government undertaking whose core activities include procuring liquor and spirit from manufacturers and suppliers and selling it to wholesalers. |
