The state-level monitoring vigilance committee (SLVMC) will henceforth sit twice a year instead of once previously. The functioning of the district level committees will be further strengthened.

This was decided in the state level monitoring and vigilance committee chaired by the state industry minister Biswa Bhushan Harichandan. Harichandan said: "The committee deliberated on the report of the National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD) on National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme and measures to expedite the work under NREGS in the flood-affected areas, corruption in allotment of houses under Indira Awas Yojana in Banto block of Bhadrakh district among others." Keeping in view the damage caused by the unprecedented flood in 18 districts, the committee deliberated on measures to repair the damaged roads under the Pradhan Mantri Rojgar Yojana (PMRY).

"The state will send proposals for Rs 2575 crore by the end of November. Besides, attempt is being made to rope in contractors of other states to expedite the construction of PMGSY roads," Harichandan said.
