The National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) would stick to its target of $50 billion of software and services exports by 2008, Som Mittal, chairman of the software industry association, said here today.

"The trend has not changed," Mittal said, adding that there would be ups and downs like the Iraq war, but the negative developments could be compensated by positive ones.

As of now, there was no reason to revise the target set in 2002 because the Indian software industry was still probably the fastest growing in the world, he said. "You should not watch the industry from quarter to quarter," he added.

In 2002, Nasscom had revised its earlier export target of $50 billion for 2008 to a potential $57 billion, based on a report by consulting firm McKinsey.
