Solve Access Issue, Will Offer Free Incoming: Cell Firms

Top cellular honchos today gave a commitment that they would offer free incoming calls across the board if the concerns relating to access charges for interconnection with WLL limited mobility operators are resolved.

Cell operators have also asked the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India to recall its order asking the mobile operators to interconnect with WLL operators.

Those present included Rajeev Chandrashekhar, chairman BPL Group, Asim Ghosh, managing director, Hutchison, Virat Bhatia, managing director, AT&T, Anil Nayar, president, mobility, Bharti Group, Rajan Swarup, chief executive officer, Escotel and Dilip Modi, chief executive officer, Spice Telecom.

Other incentives like reduced international long distance tariffs have also been put on hold due to the controversy.
