With Parliament paralysed for the fourth day by a united opposition over government's decision to allow FDI in retail, former Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee on Wednesday appealed for normal functioning of the House.
"The way Parliament has been stalled is a matter of grave concern," Chatterjee said after casting his vote in the bye-election to Kolkata Dakshin Lok Sabha seat. Appealing to all to ensure that Parliament functioned normally, he said there was no alternative to parliamentary democracy. "Everyone has to understand that Parliament is most important."
