UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi undertook an aerial survey of Kurnool and Mahabubnagar districts which bore the brunt of torrential rains and devastating floods.
Gandhi, who arrived here this morning by a special plane, was accompanied by Chief Minister K Rosaiah, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, Union Law Minister and in-charge of Congress Affairs in Andhra Pradesh M Veerappa Moily and state Congress chief D Srinivas.
Later, Gandhi saw photos of the flood-hit areas and acquainted herself with the relief and rehabilitation measures.
She left for Delhi immediately after a brief meeting with the Chief Minister at the Airport.
Gandhi complimented Rosaiah and Andhra Pradesh administration for their good work in organising flood relief.
"The Centre and state government should join hands to provide relief to the flood victims. Andhra Pradesh administration is known for its competence. I am sure normal conditions would return soon. Centre would help the state in every way. Keep up the good work," a press release from the Chief Minister's Office quoted Gandhi as saying.
