After wining the trust motion by 19 votes in the state Assembly, the JMM-BJP-AJSU-JD (U) coalition government’s Chief Minister Shibu Soren announced on the floor of the House that his main priority for the people of Jharkhand was to create 1,00,000 new jobs.

The Opposition members urged the Chief Minister to explain the post-poll alliance with the BJP and other parties, but Soren skirted the issue and announced his priorities for Jharkhand.

Soren said that his government would soon review the list of card holders covered under Below Poverty Line (BPL) and look into the possibilities of providing food grains and salt at minimum costs through public distribution system (PDS).

When the Opposition members demanded to declare the state as famine-hit, the CM said that he would convene a meeting to consider the drought situation.

However, free food grains would be given to the poor till March 31, he said.

Earier, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) Legislature party leader Pradeep Jadav cited a number of instances where the BJP leaders had painted Soren in black and the JMM had termed the BJP as party of mahajans.

Jadav reminded Soren about his past commitments during his tenures as chief minister on shifting the headquarters of Coal India Limited (CIL) and the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) from Kolkata to Ranchi.
