Accusing Samajwadi Party of failing to curb the spread of terrorism in the state during its reign, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today said that terrorism spread its root in UP due to policies of the previous SP government.

"Whatever bad name Uttar Pradesh and Muslim community had got in the recent days for links with terrorist is due to previous SP government," Mayawati told reporters adding that the entire community should not be blamed for misdeeds of a few people.
"Roots of terrorism flourished in the state during the SP reign... And it is solely responsible for it," Mayawati said.

Alarmed at the serial blasts in New Delhi and its links with the state, Mayawati said that she would hold a meeting tomorrow with senior police officers to review the measures initiated to check activities of anti-nationals.

"The state agencies are keeping a close eye on the situation arising after the serial blasts in Delhi. I am going to hold an important meeting in this regard tomorrow to give certain directions to the officials," Mayawati told reporters here.

Principal Secretary (Home), Kunwar Fateh Bahadur and Director General of Police (DGP) Vikram Singh have directed all the officers across the state through video conferencing to take stringent measures against those involved in anti-national activities.

Urging the Centre to ensure proper coordination with states, the CM said that her government would continue to support the Centre in dealing with the terrorism.

The BSP supremo also condoled death of Delhi police inspector M C Sharma and said that the state government would extend all possible support to the family of the officer.
