A notice of breach of privilege accusing West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee of misleading the Assembly was today admitted in the House by Speaker Hasim Adbul Halim. Reading out the privilege notice, Leader of Opposition Partha Chatterjee said while making a statement in the House on July 1 over the killing of CPI-M leader Ananda Das at Nanoor in Birbhum district, the Chief Minister had announced that district police superintendent Rabindra Nath Mukherjee would be removed.

However, state Home Secretary Samar Ghosh later made a statement that Mukherjee's transfer was routine, Chatterjee pointed out.

Bhattacharjee had made a statement that was not authentic, Chatterjee said and claimed that by making such a statement in the Assembly he had lowered the dignity of the House.

Halim said he would give a ruling on the privilege notice on Thursday.
