Special cell for SSIs to be set up in Jaipur

Rajasthan's minister for industry, Narpat Singh Rajvi, announced the setting up of a special cell for small-scale industries soon be set up at Udyog Bhawan in Jaipur. Rajvi was inaugurating the two-day exhibition-cum-conference on wire and cable industry-Wire and Cable Tech Mart 2006
 
This event focused on the global trends and opportunities in wire and cable industry and to bring all stake holders at one common platform as well as to enhance the understand and meet the latest technological and global requirements.
 
The event was organised by CII in association with SISI. Anupam Das Gupta, Secretary SSI, Government of India was the guest of honour of the occasion.
 
In the present global scenario industries are required to be competitive because they are not only competing with the global industries but are facing immense competition from the domestic companies also.
 
"They should improve the quality of products produced by them and at the same time they will have to set quality standards," said Rajvi. He added that to meet this standard, a technical lab was required to be set up and urged government of India to provide necessary assistance and finance in setting this laboratory.
 
In his address, Anupam Das Gupta stressed on the importance of small scale industries. "These units are not only bringing development to the state but are bringing ample of employability for the state," said Gupta.
 
He added that this sector is responsible for employing more than 30 million people of the county.
 
According to Gupta there is a great need of synergy between the technical educational institutes and the industries and at the same time the institutions are required to be more flexible.
 
Gupta stressed on the importance of the cluster development and appealed to the participants to form the Wire & Cable industry cluster and to take the advantage of credit linked capital subsidy scheme.
 
He also spoke about the Micro Small and Medium Development Act, which would be implemented from October 2, 2006.
 
Shripal Choudhai, chairman, CII Rajasthan State Council welcomed the participants to the event. According to Choudhari Rajasthan has ample of opportunities to become an international hub for wire & cable and the related products.
 
Ashish Jhunjhunwala, chairman and managing director, Ramsarup Industries, in his address spoke on the issues related to the steel wire industries.
 
He stressed on the importance of putting a check on the illegal import of steel wire from Nepal and requested to have some inspection agencies to check this illegal business.
 
An exhibition to showcase and highlight the product range was also organised. The exhibition will continue on 31 August 2006 also.
