Special nodes are being set up across the country specifically to train cadets to clear competitive examinations conducted for admission into academies like the Dehradun's IMA, Khadakvasala's NDA or Chennai's Officers Training Academy (OTA), Director General of National Cadet Corps (NCC) Prakash Choudhary said here today.
"Majority of our cadets come from semi-urban and rural backgrounds. They have the will power and determination but find it hard to express themselves. It is these boys and girls who will be joining the armed forces as decision making officers," Choudhary said.
The NCC is already conducting communication skills workshops for the cadets across the country and a special training node is being set up at Kamti village located near Nagpur in Maharashtra.
"It is essential to develop certain skill sets and polish the cadets through which they can make it to the academies, from where the passouts are directly recruited into the armed forces as officers," the DG said.
Choudhary said the Army is already giving priority to recruit candidates who have been part of NCC during their student days at recruitment drives for soldiers ranks.
