Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Sachin Tendulkar, Aamir Khan... all those who have been advertising Coke and Pepsi can expect some tutorials from activist Vandana Shiva in the coming months. The lessons will be on the harmful ingredients of Coke and Pepsi. |
Shiva today declared war against the two soft drink giants and said she would start with teaching Shah Rukh Khan and other filmstars and cricketers who advertise for them about the toxins present in these. |
Asked about her plan of action, she said it was not just her but a huge movement against the colas and each of the groups linked to 90 bottling plants of the soft drink giants all over the country. And the stars would be addressed through various channels. |
"The main objective is to force the colas to quit India. But since advertisements are part of the problem, we will have to deal with the stars too," she added. |
Criticising Shah Rukh for his "opportunistic" stand on advertising for Pepsi, she said, "Shah Rukh says there is no harm in promoting the soft drinks so long as the health ministry says it is safe. But earlier when the health ministry wanted him to stop advertising, he said it was for the actors to decide." |
"Khan is free to treat his body like a petrol tank and fill it with the de-freezers in the colas, but he must spare a thought for the ignorant masses for whom his word is gospel,'' Shiva said. |
