Stalin lays stones for projects worth Rs 92 cr

Tamil Nadu deputy chief minister MK Stalin laid the foundation stones for projects worth Rs 92.60 crore in Salem district on Monday. These include setting up of Samathuvapurams, a statewide housing project, and various urban development projects.

Stalin said the government had allocated funds to set up 29 Samathuvapurams in 2008-09, of which so far nine had been opened. For 2009-10, the government had allocated around Rs 75 crore to open another 30 Samathuvapurams. The remaining 36 will be opened  in 2010-11. Loans worth around Rs 5,338 crore have been disbursed to around 406,000 women self-help groups in Tamil Nadu, he added.
