In the backdrop of the rising level of noise pollution in industrial areas like Angul, Talcher, Keonjhar, the Orissa government has asked the district collectors to enforce the noise pollution norms as specified by the Union ministry of environment and forests (MoEF).

Though the noise pollution norms are supposed to be in force from 10 pm to 6 am, there is blatant violation of these rules particularly during the marriages and other religious function. The environment department of Orissa government has instructed the collectors to take steps for strict implementation of the provisions of the noise pollution.
