The state wing of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) today said that it will work to ensure the victory for the Naveen Patnaik led alliance in Orissa.
“Priority is to see that the third front led by Naveen Patnaik emerges victorious in Orissa”, Janardan Pati, secretary general, CPM (Orissa unit) said.
Addressing the media, Pati said, the state committee welcomes the snapping of the BJD’s alliance with a communal force like BJP. While the Congress and BJP are worried about the formation of the third front at the national level, the road has been laid for the formation of non-Congress, non-BJP third alternative in the state.
Stating that the seat sharing with BJD will be finalised by 23rd March, he said, the discussion on the seat sharing will start very soon. However, the party will emphasise on the victory of the alliance led by Naveen Patnaik instead of bickering on having a certain number of seats.
Strongly resenting the proposal to impose the President’s rule in the state, Pati said, the chief minister enjoys the support of majority members of the state Assembly and it has been approved by the voice vote.
In this context, Pati called upon the people to vote for the third front in the state for communal harmony and development of the state.
