State in Rs 95 lakh roof water harvesting plan

 The state government has agreed to bear 70 per cent of the project cost. The Municipal Corporation of Rajkot has been appointed as the nodal agency for the scheme.

 Initially the project will cover 20 government buildings, 100 high rise buildings and 500 low rise buildings. Rain water from these 620 buildings will be stored in soil boras and deep wells.

 The state has implemented various water shed development programmes in the last eight years. K N Patel, deputy director, district development agency, Rajkot, said:
