The Opposition in Karnataka today alleged that the state was heading towards “bankruptcy” due to financial mismanagement by the Yeddyurappa government. Opposition Congress leader in the Assembly, Siddaramaiah, told reporters here that total loans of the state have touched Rs 75,000 crore and the total GSDP during 2008-09 was Rs 140,000 crore, as against the chief minister’s claim that the state’s finances have been managed well.
“Does this indicate a healthy finance management?” Siddaramaiah, a former finance minister who had presented seven budgets, asked.
Alleging that “the present government is immersed in rampant corruption,” Siddaramaiah said, “we will bring these scams before the people’s court”.
