The Department of Industries and Commerce of the Karnataka government, which acts as a catalyst for the overall development of the industrial sector in the state is launching an entrepreneurship development programme to promote entrepreneurship among students.
The programme, to be launched in Mysore, is aimed at encouraging final year students to turn entrepreneurs.
The scheme, ‘Turn Industrialist - Provide Jobs’, covers technical students of diploma and degree and post-graduate students of management courses. They will be provided with all the data inputs on the opportunities available in the industry sector in the state.
Experts will brief them on the new industrial avenues available against the background of global market scenario in the coming years, financial backing and infrastructural facilities available for launching enterprises on their own. They will also get a briefing on the state’s industrial policy which offers incentives and concessions to entrepreneurs.
The scheme will be launched on November 13 at the National Institute of Engineering (NIE) by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa.
Final year students from Mysore, Mandya and Kodagu districts will attend the programme.
The department already has an entrepreneurship development and awareness programme operated through its district industries centre.
