Karnataka as a whole has received 244 mm rain during the kharif season, an excess of four per cent compared to the average rainfall of 235 mm, State Revenue Minister Karunakara Reddy said. So far 745 rain guage centres had been set up and an additional 670 would be established, he said.
Out of the 7.46 million hectares of kharif-crop covered land, 3.22 million hectares had been sown, he said. Reddy said the state did not face any issue related to shortage in drinking water except in Kolar where 36 villages had been supplied water through tankers.
Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa was expected to inaugurate the online registeration of property system in August second week in Bangalore, he said. On the Ashraya housing scheme, he said 36,000 houses out of the total 59,000 targeted had been delivered. By this month end 90 per cent of the target was expected to covered.
Reddy, however, declined to comment on the V Balsubramanian report relating to encroachment of land, saying it was not official.
According to Balasubramanian, Chairman of the Taskforce for Recovery and Protection of Government land, only four per cent of the grabbed government land has been recovered.
