The Orissa government plans to allot 100 acres of land to software major Infosys Technologies at the Infocity-II area for its proposed second campus in the state. The Infocity-II project is being developed by the Orissa Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Idco) on an area of over 600 acres at Janla on the outskirts of the city.

“Infosys had sought 100 acres of land for its proposed second campus, close to its existing campus at the Infocity-I area in the city. However, due to space constraints, we have decided to allot land to the IT major in the upcoming Infocity-II area”, a top IT official told Business Standard.

“The allotment of land to Infosys and other IT majors would be finalised after we have developed the external infrastructure for the Infocity-II project like approach road, water and electricity. A budgetary provision of Rs 150 crore has already been made for developing the external infrastructure for the Infocity-II project”, he added.

However, Abhijit Sen, head of Infosys in Bhubaneswar said that it is yet to receive any communication from the Orissa government.
