State to host agri investors' meet

The state government will organise the Global Agricultural Investors’ Meet (GAIM) in June on the lines of the Global Investors’ Meet (GIM) held in June last year.

Disclosing this after inaugurating the permanent industrial exhibition centre at Kanabargi Industrial Area and a workshop on ‘Investment Opportunities in Karnataka’, chief minister B S Yeddyrappa said GAIM will be an attempt to showcase the investment opportunities in the state in the agricultural sector besides attracting investors for the same. Yeddyurappa said cabinet has recently finalised an entrepreneur-friendly agricultural policy in the state. “We will not compromise with environment-related issues in the speed of developing industries. The CM said that the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha (SVS), which is being built here, will be inaugurated in July, after which it will host a legislature session.

 

Yeddyurappa said the July session will focus on the development of north Karnataka and correcting regional imbalance by effective implementation of recommendations made by Nanjundappa Committee.

Rs 25 cr for theme park
Meanwhile, Yeddyurappa said Rs 25 crore will be earmarked for the theme park and glass house at Vaccine Depot in Belgaum, to commemorate the second World Kannada Meet (WKM). The theme park will be developed with statues of freedom fighters, litterateurs and pro-Kannada fighters. He also announced a package of Rs 3 crore.
