States to cut sales tax on petro products: Sonia

The government on Wednesday increased the price of petrol by Rs 5 per litre, diesel by Rs 3 per litre and cooking gas by Rs 50 per cylinder in order to bail out its bleeding oil marketing companies which were suffering as they were unable to raise prices in line with record-high international prices.
