Around 250 students from the state are all set to realise their spaceship dreams. The Space Camp Ambassador India (SCAI), the official country representative of the US Space and Rocket Center and Kennedy Space Centre, Florida has offered a unique programme to science and engineering students from various schools and colleges of Gujarat to visit NASA's Marshal Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama and Kennedy Space Centre, Florida.

As part of the programme, the students will attend a realistic, interactive and intensive space camp programme.

"Students in the age group of 9-18 years and those in the age group of 18-24 with science and engineering background will be exposed to the real world applications of mathematical, scientific and technological concepts. The space camp programme features three main tracks including space, robotics and aviation tracks, which will involve the children's participation in interactive shuttle missions, rocket construction, astronaut simulators and other problem solving and team building exercises. The programme will help children strengthen their power of reasoning, solve problems creatively and enhance their leadership skills," said Brij Mohan Sood, Indian ambassador for the space camp.

Till date 12 lakh students from around the world have attended the programme.

"So far, many students from India also have visited the NASA Marshal Space Flight Center and Kennedy Space Centre, Florida and have found the prgoramme to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The children get to interact with other students from around the world, which creates a healthy cross-cultural interaction between them," Sood added.

The students from Gujarat will attend the programme between May and June this year.
