Reserve Bank of India Governor D Subbarao today met Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee to discuss inflation. “The finance minister wanted a brief on the inflation situation and I briefed him,” Subbarao told reporters outside North Block.
The meeting comes within four days of the central bank’s first quarter review of the annual policy which accorded top priority to combating inflation. On Tuesday, Subbarao announced an increase in key policy rates as part of further monetary tightening.
