Subbarao takes charge as Finance Secretary

Economic Affairs Secretary Duvvuri Subbarao today assumed charge as Finance Secretary.

The Andhra Pradesh cadre IAS officer had been appointed Economic Affairs Secretary on May 1 this year. The post of the Finance Secretary is seen as the 'first among equals' of the five secretaries in the Ministry of Finance.

Incumbents lead the annual budget formulation exercise among other vital co-ordination activities in the finance ministry.
