Sukhbir urges PM to send central team to assess flood loss

Sukhbir Singh Badal, deputy chief minister of Punjab, reviewed the flood situation and relief operations in the state on Saturday and requested Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to immediately send a central team to assess the loss in the state. Floods in seven districts of Punjab have covered more than 566 villages, destroying crop sown over 200,000 acres of land. Badal said, according to initial estimates, Punjab suffered losses of more than Rs 350 crore.
