Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray yesterday asked the BJP, its alliance partner in Maharashtra, to extend unconditional support to former chief election commissioner T N Seshans candidature for presidentship. Addressing a press conference here , Thackeray predicted the imminent fall of the 13-party coalition government at the Centre.

BJP will come to power, if a mid-term poll to Lok Sabha is ordered because of the fluid political situation in the country, he said.

The Sena supremo felt that there would not be any improvement in India-Pakistan relations as the outcome of the ongoing talks between the two countries on prime ministerial level would be fruitless.

To a question, he said regional parties had been gaining importance of late as national parties had failed to make any dent.

Thackeray reiterated his demand of implementing the uniform common civil code throughout the country. if it can be implemented in Goa, there will not be any difficulty to implement it in Maharashtra, he said.
