Swadeshi Mela to be held in Mysore

Self-help groups, traders of cottage industries and small industrialists from various parts of the country will participate in the first-ever Swadeshi Mela to be organised by the Centre for Bharatiya Marketing Development (CBMD) in Mysore.
 
The week-long mela will be held between December 22 and December 28 at the Institution of Engineers. CBMD, which is part of the Swadeshi Jagran Foundation. The mela is being held in Mysore for the first time. The non-profit NGO has held many such melas in various parts of the country under the banner "India can be developed by Indians".
 
Explaining the rationale behind organising such events, CBMD marketing manager Krishna Kumar told Business Standard the aim of his organisation is to promote domestic businesses grow by providing them a platform to identify and sell to bulk buyers.
 
CBMD also creates awareness among traders on such platforms, provides training and helps them market their produce. It is a well-connected organisation with over 150 professionals. Nearly 200 business houses are expected to participate in the mela, he added.
