Former Union Minister G K Vasan today requested the Tamil Nadu government to take effective steps to obtain maximum power from the Kundankulam Nuclear Power Plant, which has attained full generation capacity, to provide uninterrupted power to industry, facing severe power outages.
"The Tamil Nadu Government should take effective steps to obtain maximum power from Koodankulam plant as 1000 MW is being generated there. Industry is facing severe power cut and so government should devote its attention to improve power generation and provide uninterrupted power supply," he said.
The power cuts were affecting textile units in Erode, Tirupur, Salem, Coimbatore and Karur districts, he said.

He requested the NDA Government to intervene and solve the pollution problems of these units.
On the rout of the Congress in the Lok Sabha polls, he admitted the party had never expected such a big defeat which was a "lesson" to it.
The party would work unitedly at the national level and prove its strength in coming assembly elections in various States, he added.
To a question, he said no single individual in the Congress could be blamed for the defeat at the hustings.
On the vexed Cauvery water issue, he said Congress party's ultimate intention was to get necessary share of water from Karnataka to Tamil Nadu.
