Talks initiated by Andhra Pradesh government with Opposition parties for resolving TDP President Chandrababu Naidu's indefinite hunger-strike issue failed this afternoon as Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy refused to concede the demand for enhancement of compensation to calamity-hit farmers.
The principal Opposition TDP, CPI and CPM walked out of the meeting in protest against the government's adamant attitude.
"The Chief Minister only reiterated what he announced in the Assembly and stoutly refused to enhance compensation for farmers. He says the government has no money to enhance relief. The government clearly did not have an open mind to resolve the crisis," TDP, CPI and CPM leaders told newsmen after they walked out of the all-party meeting.
They will announce their future course of action later in the evening.
Other Opposition parties like BJP, Lok Satta and TRS too did not express satisfaction over the outcome of the meeting.
