A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the School Education department, government of Tamil Nadu, and Microsoft Corporation India here today. |
According to the MoU, Microsoft will assist the government in providing comprehensive teacher training to teachers in the state by establishing and running an Information Technology Academy in Chennai for a period of five years. |
The corporate will set up a state-of-the-art IT lab encompassing hardware, software, curriculum and staff for education delivery and administration free of cost. The building will be provided by the state government. |
Called as 'Partners in Learning Programme', the project provides training in batches of 40 over the next five years. Apart from this, teachers in batches of 20, will be trained in five District Institutes of Educational Training (DIETs) across the state by Microsoft. |
The MoU was signed by Girija Vaidyanathan, secretary, school education and Ravi Venkatesan, chairman of Microsoft India. |
