The Tamil Nadu government today signed 16 MoUs, committing Rs 5,081 crore as investments in the state.
These include a Rs 1,000-crore investment from Videocon Group's Unity Appliances Ltd in the electronic consumer durables sector, Rs 600 crore investment from KPR Mills Ltd in the textile sector, a Rs 594-crore vaccine manufacturing unit by HLL Biotech Ltd, Rs 500 crore investment by Tapp Semi Conductor Pvt Ltd and a Rs 350-crore investment in home appliances sector by BSH Household Appliances Manufacturers Private Ltd, a joint venture of Bosch and Seimens, over a period of three to five years.
The MoUs were signed in Chennai in the presence of chief minister J Jayalalithaa, who also released Tamil Nadu -- Industrial Policy, Automobile & Auto Components Policy, Tamil Nadu Biotechnology Policy and Tamil Nadu Vision 2023 - Phase II.
The Phase II of the vision document includes profiles of 217 infrastructure projects in six major sectors - energy, transport, industrial and commercial infrastructure, urban infrastructure and services, agriculture and human development.
