Tamil Nadu signs up for bringing air travel to its small towns under UDAN

First phase will start with industrial towns of Hosur, Neyveli and Salem

The Tamil Nadu government and the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for implementing low-cost regional air connectivity in the state. Under the central government’s Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik (UDAN) scheme, small towns will be connected by air services at low cost.

In the first phase, flight services will be started to Hosur, Neyveli and Salem in the state.

The MoU was signed in front of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami.

The Centre is looking to cover as many small towns as possible under the scheme.
