Tata Intl offers export assistance

Tata International Limited (TIL) has undertaken a study of industrial units in the Adityapur Industrial Area (AIA) here to assess if their products can be exported. According to industry sources, several small and medium-scale enterprises can become foreign exchange earners.

"Jharkhand has minerals, engineering and auto component products. The only bottleneck is the lack of proper infrastructure," said TIL's market head of steel business V Venkateswaran.

Exports from Jharkhand total Rs 2000 crore annually, but less than a quarter gets reflected in the state's credit.

"As a result, the state loses out on the market development assistance provided by the Government of India through the Union ministry for commerce," said Venkateswaran. States are entitled to four per cent of export earnings.

TIL executives conducted a session for local manufacturing units at a meeting convened by CII Jharkhand council. Tata International invited factory owners to approach them for assistance in exporting products.
