Tata Power lines up Rs 19,200 crore for more units

Tata Power Supply Company Ltd plans to add 4,800 Mw of thermal generation capacity with an investment of around Rs 19,200 crore.
 
The company is considering setting up a 1,000-Mw plant in the northern region, and two more plants of 1,000 Mw each and a 500-Mw plant in Maharashtra.
 
The company may also set up a project in Jamshedpur in Jharkhand and a captive power plant for Tata Steel in the east. The company also plans to set up its first overseas project in South Africa.
 
"We are also planning to bid for a 300-Mw greenfield power project in South Africa," Tata Power Supply Company Executive Director S Ramakrishnan said.
 
The South African project will require an investment of Rs 1,200 crore.
