Resource mobilisation drive launched by the Mysore City Corporation (MCC) has begun to yield a rich bonanza.

Its building tax realisation for 2011-12 in the two civic zones has exceeded last year’s collection.

In its Zonal 4 office, MCC realised Rs 6.52 crore upto March 28. This is against the collection of Rs 5.34 crore during the previous year. The zone covers 12,335 tax payers, of whom 11,226 have already paid their building tax.

Similarly, in Zonal 9 office, Mysore City Corporation collected Rs 62.2 crore, while the realisation last year was Rs 54 crore, according to the MCC Revenue Officer on Tuesday.

A drive to collect trade licence fee has also yielded good dividends, with shop owners responding in a big way to renew their licence for 2012-13.

After door-to-door fee collection, Mysore City Corporation Revenue authorities conducted a three-day special drive opposite the Lansdowne Buildings last week for shopkeepers coming under Zone 6 to renew their licences.

Prominent commercial areas like D Devaraj Urs Road, Sayaji Rao Road, Shivarampet and the neighbouring areas with about 6,900 commercial establishments fall under its jurisdiction.

The on-the-spot drive was to facilitate traders to renew their licences without hassle, the revenue authorities said. On the first day, 200 trade licences were renewed and two new licences were issued. This fetched the Mysore City Corporation Rs 4.81 lakh.
