Tax collection in Tamil Nadu increases by 7.52%

Almost 76% of the commercial tax filings were through e-filing

Tax collection in Tamil Nadu has increased by 7.52 per cent during the first six months of the fiscal year 2016-17, according to a statement from the government.

On Friday, Minister for Commercial Tax Department, K C Veeramani has conducted review meetings in the commercial tax office in Chennai.

An announcement from the State government related to this said that the total tax collection during the first six month of 2016-17 has increased 7.52 per cent to Rs 31,367.18 crore as against Rs 29,172.95 crore during the same period of last year, by collecting the taxes not remitted earlier and also by reducing the costs.

 

Almost 76 per cent of the commercial tax filings were through e-filing and almost 95 per cent of the tax payments were through e-payment, it said.
