Members of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), including leader of the Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu, were suspended from the state Legislative Assembly on Tuesday as they continued to disrupt the proceedings of the House demanding further discussion on farmers’ problems.

When the House reassembled in the evening to take up government business, the TDP members said the discussion on farmers’ issues, which started in the forenoon, should be continued.

Deputy speaker, Nadendla Manohar, explained that the evening session was convened specifically to take up government business and there were two important bills to be adopted by the House.

However, the members of the main Opposition party made a furore and surrounded the Speaker’s podium insisting on discussing the farmers’ problems. As they did not resume their seats despite repeated pleas by the chair, they were suspended. When the TDP members did not leave the House even after suspension, marshals physically carried them away.
