The bandh observed by the pro-Telangana outfits in the state capital on Friday passed off peacefully. Shops and business establishments were closed at many places, while the educational institutions downed their shutters ever since the launch of a general strike in the Telangana region 18 days ago.
The buses of the road transport corporation remained off the road for the 12th day with pro-Telangana employees of the organisation joining the general strike demanding a separate statehood to the region.
Meanwhile, the state government has decided to apply “no work, no pay” rule and, hence, would pay salaries only for the number of days its employees attended the offices in September.
The bandh had no impact on the IT industry, said L Suresh, president of the IT and ITeS Industry Association of AP (ITsAP). “All the IT companies in Hyderabad witnessed full attendance,” he said.
