Telangana to start work on T-Hub phase II with Rs 175 cr investment

Country's largest technology incubator was launched on a 70,000 square feet space in November 2015

Telangana government today said it was planning to start work on second phase of the Hyderabad start-up incubation facility, T-Hub, at an investment of Rs 175 crore soon.

Claimed to be the country's largest technology incubator, T-Hub was launched on a 70,000 square feet space in November, 2015.

The government had invested Rs 40 crore on the building, which was named as Catalyst, to house the incubation center. Currently there are about 216 start-ups are working from this facility.

Along with the second phase of T-Hub the state government is also planning to launch T-Works, a prototyping lab for innovation opportunities in hardware, electronic manufacturing and semi-conductors.

 

" We are ready to start various verticals of T-Hub focussed on different areas like hardware, particularly electronics and semi-conductors, which will be launched in Hyderabad before December end. We are going to call it 'T-Works'," Telangana IT Secretary Jayesh

Ranjan said on Wednesday. The department is also planning to set up a Very Large Scale Integration Design (VLSID) Academy in Hyderabad, according to him.

Hyderabad IT exports touch Rs 75,000-crore mark

Hyderabad achieved a 13.26 percent growth in IT exports at Rs 75,070 crore in 2015-16, according to a report released by Telangana IT minister K Tarakarama Rao. IT industry in the city has created little over 35,000 new jobs during the year taking the total work force to 407385, the report said.

"From Rs 57,000 crore in 2014, the state government has set a target to double the IT and ITeS exports. The state registered Rs 67,000 crore for 2014-15 and crossed Rs 75,070 crore in 2015-16. We have continued to grow faster from the national average,'' the minister said on this occasion.
