Telecom firms get 90 days to follow FDI norms

The government has decided to give an additional three months, till March 2007, to telecom operators for complying with the foreign direct investment (FDI) norms.

Finance Minister P Chidambaram made the announcement today after a cabinet meeting. Operators having  FDI up to 74% were earlier required to abide by the guidelines by January 2, 2007.
