The term of the Commission for Economically Backward Classes (EBCs) was today extended by four months till July 31 this year.
The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, approved a proposal in this regard, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni told reporters.
The term of the commission has been extended from time to time and it was last extended to March 31 this year.
The commission, constituted in 2004, is mandated to work out modalities to give effect to the proposed reservation for economically-backward classes not covered by the existing reservation policy.
