The ministry of textile will soon be notifying a jute policy, informed Shankersinh Vaghela, the central minister of textile. |
Looking for a permanent solution in jute reservation in selected commodities the new policy might provide 100 per cent jute reservation in sugar and food grain packing, added the minister. |
Discussion are going on with the industrialists, government officials and other related people in this regard and the policy shall be in place very soon, said Vaghela. |
"There has been enough and frequent change in using jute bags for packing and it is the ideal time to provide with a permanent solution. The new policy, in addition, to the above would also address all the critical issues very clearly so that there remains no space for confusion", said Vaghela. |
The ministry would also be seeking private partnership in reviving two out of the six sick units under the National Jute Manufacturers Corporation (NJMC). |
"We would invite potential, credible and successful private players to enter into a joint venture with the government. We would look into the labour issue, financial areas will be supervised by them and the management would be jointly supervised ", informed the minister. |
The decision has yet not been taken but as soon as capable private players are found activities would start in this regard, confirmed the minister. |
The overall investment would be around Rs 30 crore. |
Inaugurating National Centre for Jute Diversification (NCJD) and Central Cottage Industries Emporium (CCIE) sales outlet of jute diversified product in the city today, the minister said ," the potential of eco-friendly jute products is huge in the world market and private participation is most important at this juncture of time". |
