Prime Minister Manmohan Singh took additional responsibility of the finance ministry on June 26. This is the second time he has handled this ministry after becoming the prime minister.
The first time he did so was for a couple of months when P Chidambaram was shifted from the finance ministry to the home portfolio after the Mumbai terror attacks in November 2008.
