Tiwari wants projects done in time

Uttaranchal Chief Minister N D Tiwari has directed all the departments to complete their plans in a time-bound manner and utilise funds to benefit the people.
 
Presiding over a high-level meeting at the state secretariat here last night, Tiwari reviewed various plans and projects being implemented in all the 13 districts of the state, an official statement today said.
 
Expressing concern at poor growth agricultural growth some districts, Tiwari directed the officials to prepare fresh plans to improve the situation in these areas. These plans should be submitted to the state Planning Commission immediately, he said.
 
Tiwari also said the Hardwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts should be given top priority in literacy and a detailed project report should be prepared on those schools where computerised progarammes like "Shikhar and Arohi" were being implemented with the help of companies like Microsoft. He said the computerisation programme would also be extended to the rural areas.
 
Tiwari also called for bringing in new plans for landless farmers and the downtrodden.
 
On the electrification programme, Tiwari said all the villages would get power by 2009 and asked the officials to gear up to complete the task in this regard.
 
On other sectors like industry, horticulture, biotechnology, and health, Tiwari said the departments must tighten their belts.
