Trinamool Congress on Tuesday said it would oppose the "politically motivated" countrywide industrial strike called by the trade unions on February 28. "It is a politically motivated strike. We will oppose it democratically and in a peaceful manner," TMC leader and West Bengal Commerce and Industries Minister, Partha Chatterjee told reporters. He said party workers would take out processions and campaigns against the strike on the day. Chatterjee said the strike was aimed at "disturbing the ongoing examination schedule, the industrial climate and stalling normal life". The CPI(M)'s "bandh culture" had shattered the state's economy in the last 34 years, he said, adding the new government reeling under an acute financial crisis and trying to rebuild the state, would not allow development to be stalled.
