TN allots Rs 82.33 cr for national highways

The state government has announced a series of road projects, including upgradation.

Highways and minor ports minister Edappadi K Palaniswami told the Assembly that chief minister J Jayalalithaa had directed upgradation of 81.27 km of National Highways at an estimated sum of Rs 82.33 crore. Further, 910 km of major district roads (MDR) would be converted into state highways and 870 km of other district roads (ODR) will be upgraded as MDRs this year.

"In 2013-14, it is proposed to collect field particulars and prepare designs for 38 road-over-bridges, six road-under-bridges, 14 river bridges, five grade separators, three design modifications and four flyovers totalling 70 works," he said.
