Tamil Nadu government is planning to set up a new Development Board, which will focus only on infrastructure development across the state. This is primarily to attract investment in the southern parts of the state, according to Tamil Nadu Industries Minister S P Velumani.
“Emphasis of infrastructure planning and development depends on the spread and quality of infrastructure available and planning will be done anticipating future requirement and in attracting private investment into infrastructure. In this regard, Tamil Nadu Infrastructure Development Board will be created,” he said in the Assembly.
He said the state recognises the need for spreading the new industries into all regions particularly in the less developed regions of the southern Tamil Nadu. To this end, the creation of industrial corridors, extension of special packages, and creation of new infrastructure in such regions would be given importance.
